The balkanised bigger picture
Over at England's Sword, I look at another case of a council rubbing away a little part of a local community for the sake of political correctness:
I recall Peter Hitchens once writing very insightfully of what he had always imagined would be worst about trying to live in an invaded and occupied country. For him it would be passing a foreign flag every morning on the way to work, seeing harmless and homely customs brought to an end, witnessing the demolition of precisely those little things that bring together a community and a nation. As the months and years go by, we are all getting a flavour of just what he means.
