Shorter Live 8
I had a much longer post here on Live 8, but my browser crashed. Suffice it to say, as DumbJon has pointed out, that the media luvvies and silly trendies who kowtow before Geldof represent neither the interests of Africans nor the views of the British people. The happiest days in Africa's history were those in which ultimate authority lay with a few hundred Englishmen, in parliament. The model the British Empire gave the continent, of free enterprise and freedom of speech, of impartial justice and the rule of law, can be replicated in Africa, as it has been so successfully elsewhere. Until it is, mass transfer of money from the pockets of the British taxpayer to the pockets of Africa's pathetic tyrants is a positive evil.
